Salery Requirments? - cover leter dental hygienist

I find this a bit silly, but I know that the correct way to write a letter reqires you pay in your CV to .. I see it all the time, who knows how to (write a cover leter, but when I see, please email your CV and salary expectations) I am not sure what they want. Can anyone help?
